Over the last few months I have really struggled to remain close to God. I felt like a drunkard, trying to stay on the straight&narrow, but stumbling left and right constantly.😳 I got sick and tired of myself 🙄and, for the last few days, consciously willed myself into staying connected spiritually, staying obedient srupulously😇.... and yet the feeling of emptiness remained😔....
Then, last night, as I lay in bed and prayed, I suddenly felt Jesus' presence so close. I was so happy!! I felt like jumping onto His neck and holding on for dear life! I told Him: "Lord I have MISSED you!😌 I never want to let go ever again.... but...😞 I don't trust myself..." Immediately I felt Him responding through this thought: "At last you are where you need to be in order to go higher with Me".
You see, the Bible tells us that Jesus (though He loves us) didn't entrust Himself to man for He knew men (John 2:24). The Word also says that He is able to keep us from falling (Jude 1:24). The message is clear: don't trust yourself, trust in Jesus. However hard you try, in your own strength you will not be able to resist temptation on the long run. But Jesus can help you!
Look at Peter walking on the water: while he was keeping his eyes on Jesus, Jesus helped him accomplish the impossible, but the moment Peter looked away from Jesus, doubt conquered his mind and a breach occured in his relationship with Jesus, causing him to sink. Yet, as soon as Peter cried "save me Lord", Jesus did just that. (Matt 14)
For Jesus to save us and keep us from falling (sinking), we must want it. It is dependant on one choice - yours. The beautiful truth is that, when you DO cry out to Him for help, He will ALWAYS respond!
