DONT BE A GULLIBLE CHRISTIAN...🙄 (practical advice against deception😉)

I am often horrified at how gullible us Christians are. The things that we believe and sometimes forward on Facebook or WhatsApp ... eish!!😆 But God is good and shows us much grace!
As a teen I gave my "Dominee" (reformed church pastor) a run for his money in NG catechism. Some of my friends may remember...😆 He used to visit my parents because he was worried about me asking too many questions...😬 I asked those questions because, at age 15, I met God in what was a supernatural experience, and what He revealed to me about His heart through the Word, didn’t always match what I was being taught in church. I, of course, wanted to know why...!
I’m 40+ now and I’ve never stopped seeking God’s face and questioning anything that seems to deviate from the Truth. Sometimes I am wrong and am the one to be set right, but many times I am right and find myself exposing the devil in his quest to keep me and others from our true destiny in Christ.
So how do we know for sure that we are in the right? There are SO many different currents in the Christian walk today and they ALL claim to be right?!
One problem is that we tend to think God operates in only one way - OUR way 😂, while we should be learning from each other... . So it is no use just creating a whole new denomination/movement. That’s not gonna bring the Body together! We must find common ground for the different members of the body to fellowship on, and Love will lead the way into Truth
But, you also have to know that there are wolves out there. (Not people per se, but deceiving spirits working through children of God...😳)
It can indeed be tricky to discern who to believe, in the sense that the whole thing about deception is that we kinda don’t see it coming...duh! 😜. Yet, when you look back on the experience afterward, you will probably realize that there was something deep down inside of you that wasn’t feeling quite « okay » with what was happening or what was being taught.
So in practical terms, if you don’t feel at peace, immediately go to God and ask for guidance. He will never leave you in the dark. Either you will find that you were feeling uncomfortable about what was taught because it was challenging your own wrong views that you have been holding on to (you will have a TADA-moment 💡 if this be the case), or Holy Spirit will show you that what you are busy with doesn’t line up with God’s Word and Heart. It also helps to look at the life of the person teaching - if they are displaying good fruit, then you can give them the benefit of the doubt. BUT no person is perfect, therefore the key is to stay close to God and hear what He has to say. As a rule of thumb, don’t just accept what you are being taught : measure it against the Word and ask God's opinion!
