Holistic Healing...?

As incurable disease is on the increase, we have to draw the conclusion that modern medicin is not bringing us the solutions that we need... Consequently, many of us are turning to alternative methods and often we hear the words "holistic healing". According to its definition, holistic healing is an approach that "considers the whole person -- body, mind, spirit, and emotions -- in the quest for optimal health and wellness".
And I'm thinking: this isn't new...? I read about that in my Bible!🤔
As I was reflecting on Matthew 12:22 this morning, I couldn’t help thinking how very differently a person suffering from blindness and muteness would be treated today. Doing what Jesus had done (with instant results, by the way) would probably be considered as the very last option in our modern society, or rather, not even as an option at all!
An uneducated "church" had set such a bad example over centuries in this respect that we have lost all notion of walking in divine health and victory, and very rarely we hear about demons being cast out.
Yet Jesus used to do it. Often! And easily. With a single word or command. No sweat! Moreover, it is one of the things He commanded us to keep on doing according to Matthew 10:8 :
“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.”
Refraining from doing so is not being “modern”, it actually is being uneducated!😢
Unlike what you may imagine it to be, the casting out of demons needn't be a spooky affair. It is a matter of using our God-given authority. What determines the results, however, is not how loud or angry we get with the devil, but how diligently we walk in humility and obedience.
In Matthew 12 Jesus is being accused by the Pharisees of casting out demons with the help of other demons, and Jesus conveniently uses the opportunity to educate us in exorcism. He starts His teaching by explaining how it is illogical to reason that a demon would cast out another demon, because fighting against your own camp simply isn’t an intelligent war strategy ! (And make no mistake, this IS a war!)
Jesus goes on to explain that, before we can reck havoc in the enemy's camp, we need to bind the strong man. There is not one area in our life where we can walk in spiritual victory if we do not first use our spiritual authority to neutralize the true cause behind our problem. This is because our war is not against flesh and blood. Be it incurable disease, addiction issues or depression, relying solely on human resources (doctors, medication and other treatments) is never rewarded with satisfying long-term results. We HAVE TO address the spiritual entity responsible for that condition first. This does not necessarily mean that you have to go through endless deliverance sessions. After all, Jesus cast out demons with one command! What it does mean, however, is that we have to take authority over the devil in the spiritual dimension before we can see results in the physical dimension, which brings us to the next point: how can we take authority?
Most Christians are scared of taking authority over the devil and for good reason: if you try to cast out a demon while you are actually still willingly serving the devil through sin, it may result in something even worse happening to you! If we are deliberately entertaining any kind of sin in our life, we are worshipping the devil and thus we are, according to Jesus, in no position to get rid of him...!
We are often reluctant to get rid of stuff in our lives that we know aren’t entirely according to God’s will, making all kinds of excuses to justify our position, but if we could grasp to what extent our obedience would positively impact our lives (and to what extent our disobedience is ruining our lives) we would gladly turn away from our sins and do things God's way!
Lastly, just before you think "naah, this is not for me"...😜
In Matt 12:30 Jesus says:
“So join with me, for if you’re not on my side you are against me. And if you refuse to help me gather the spoils, you are making things worse.” (PASSION TRANSLATION)
This is a gentle yet firm warning: if we are not taking a stand against the devil, we are not only AGAINST Jesus, we are actually progressively making things worse for ourselves and for this world that we are living in... After all, our job as children of God is to introduce His Kingdom to this fallen earth, in order to make things BETTER, and we do it by taking up, and applying, the authority that is ours as an inheritance - IF we choose to walk in it through obedience. According to Jesus there is no such thing as half & half Christianity. We are either for Him or against Him....
So, if you too are tired of mediocre Christianity, of a low-impact life filled with fear and of traditional medicin and methods that show no lasting results, then join me in my pursuit of Him Who makes a lasting difference, our one and only true Holy-istic Healer...😊
