This recipe has been tested and approved! You see, I used to be a very fearful person, worrisome about daily life, stressing about crime, having very many sleepless nights. Then, about 5 years ago, God talked to me in a nearly audible voice while I was standing in my kitchen, telling me that it was time to remove fear from my life. Thus the journey began and the progress I have made thus far is out of this world! It included eliminating things such as reading, watching and listening to things that stimulate fear (certain kinds of TV programs, news, crime reports, etc) and I had to learn to control my thought processes. So yes, it is a journey that one progresses in over time, but the recipe that I am about to give you, is a key that unlocks great acceleration.
As I was listening to a Christian talk-show one morning while I was preparing for my day, this one guy shared advice that he had receive that had transformed his life. It was very simple: Praise God till it turns into worship and then worship Him until His Glory manifests.
I was both intrigued and sceptic. It seemed a tad simplistic, but at the same time I worried about my capacity of praising God for such a long time - it seemed exhausting lol. (I didn't realize at that point that it isn't the quantity that counts but the quality of my investment.) Having been 'victim' of midnight worry-sessions for years, that interfered with my sleep and my overall wellbeing, I was desperate to try something that would help me get rid of that gnawing feeling in my gut. So I decided to try it.
My first step was asking God to help me, because even though I knew He was praise worthy, I seemed to get stuck in knowing what to say or do. Also, I didn't have a lot of alone-time to my disposal. Immediately I felt guided to just meditate on His goodness as I was doing other things: in my head or out loud, it didn't matter. I started thinking about how He had planned me and created me, how He had bestowed different talents on me and really made me for His pleasure. I started thanking Him for all that, just talking to Him out loud, laughing at thoughts that crossed my mind and ended up having a fun time in the process! At some point I suddenly felt a surge of emotion as my praise literally turned into worship without me pushing it in that direction. I was actually still thinking and speaking the same kinds of things than when I had praised Him, but it was as if the process had gone from something that was happening in my mind, to something that was flowing from my heart!
It was getting late and I knew I had to go to bed, even though I did not really feel tired. I decided to sit down on the sofa for a while to see where this was going to take me, obviously anticipating the manifestation of His Glory...
Suddenly I woke up, surprised that I had fallen asleep almost instantly after sitting down. I felt relaxed and loved and.... not alone. I then knew that it was the atmosphere of His presence (His Glory) that had caused me to fall asleep!
I went to bed, talking to Him continuously, and had the most amazing night of sleep. I did wake up once and perceived negative thoughts creeping up on me, but I immediately and intentionally replaced them with thoughts of worship and fell asleep again within seconds!
This 'method' will accomplish many things in your life. Yes it will deal with fear and every other negative manifestation in your life, because the process puts God back on the throne of our lives. It takes our eyes off of ourselves and the evil world around us, and anchor us in His Truth. You will not only start to perceive His presence more physically, but you will hear His voice clearer and your faith will grow stronger.
This is actually how you cultivate a lifestyle of worship: doing what we do every day while our spirit man inside of us continues to love Him and glorify Him. If you think it isn't possible to accumulate this with the busyness of life, guess again!
The proof of the pudding is, however, in the eating...
