In the Bible, 1 Kings 14:13 mentions the death of Abija, the son of Jeroboam, as predicted by a prophet. Now, it is important to know that Jeroboam and all of his household was wicked and did not walk in the ways of the Lord. In verse 13 The prophet of the Lord says of the young boy, Abijah: “and all of Israel shall mourn for him and bury him for he is the only one of Jeroboam who shall come to the grave, because in him there is found something good toward the Lord God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam.”

Even though there is much more to be said about this passage, the highlighted thought for me was this: death at an early age is not necessarily a curse as we sometimes depict it to be.

Do we not tend to forget that going to Heaven in itself is a huge reward? THE reward? Moreover, is it possible to imagine that a God who has created such an intricate creation, displaying so many purposes throughout the centuries of this earth-age alone, does not have additional and ongoing purposes in the World that he calls Heaven and for the ages to come?

People who die young do not necessarily die too young. Often, and especially when they were already walking with the Lord while on earth, they die because they have fulfilled their days: they have accomplished their mission!

You might have to go to heaven to know more about their mission and their purpose, but rest for now in these words of comfort. 🙂
