THE SIN STRUGGLE...

If you don’t read or retain anything else today, remember this: if you have sin in your life, do not reason “I’ll connect with God again once I’m sin free”. That is the stupidest way to reason🙄, and yet it is kinda what Adam did too...😉 TO THE CONTRARY: run to God as fast as you can!
Isn’t it strange how most of us struggle with at least some kind of sin, yet find ourselves hiding it desperately...? The Word says “bring it to the light”... What does that mean, though, in practical terms?
I used to think that it meant something like confessing our sins publicly and exposing ourselves - because that is what I have been taught. I have a problem with that though. It is not, for instance, because someone confesses his drug abuse problem that he has brought his CRAVING for drugs into the light. If bringing things into the open sufficed to cure us of sin, drug addicts would not experience relapses.
Another example is adultery. A friend of mine spoke of it this way. He said its no use cutting the branches of a sick tree if the sickness lies in the roots. So even if that person steps out of the adulterous relationship and into counseling, that doesn’t mean he or she is not still struggling with the desire to sin. And we can’t be satisfied with just SEEMING free from sin, we need to be CURED of it!
I have come to discern another interpretation of the verse which has, frankly, changed my life. The Greek term, “photos”, employed in the above-mentioned verse, can apparently also mean “fire” and we know that the Word teaches us that God is a consuming fire. It's only His Light that can penetrate our darkness effectively and His Fire that can burn sin to ashes.
So, imagine that you are struggling with sin and you run into some kind of prayer closet and talk to your Father about it. Is He going to be offended? Will He say in a thunderous voice: How dare you enter My presence in filthy rags?!
(Lol... I couldn’t help imagining a deep scary voice! 😆) NO! He will embrace you and set you free. His Light will expose the root cause of your sin (which often has little to do with the sin it manifests through in our lives) and His Fire will consume your desire to sin! It’s true! (been there done that) BUT this can only happen if you have a heart to heart relationship with God.
I personally have had issues that I had to deal with countless times. I have cut off “branches” like crazy yet still struggled with the root causes. But once I have decided to surrender and let Him leit, Daddy dealt with them within the space of our alone time together.
Say.. you are involved in a wrong relationship. Will it help you to simply avoid the person you’re involved with? It might for a while, but if the root cause is insecurity, or loneliness, you’ll just end up in another wrong relationship with another person. Face it, we can’t avoid the whole world for the rest of our lives! 😂 We have to pluck out the root-cause, it’s the only long term way!
So, run to your Daddy, and if you don’t know how, contact me or someone you trust who can guide you!
