HEALING - LOOKING AT THE BRONZE SERPENT

I have often heard Pentecostals criticize Catholics for having on their crucifixes with Jesus crucified on it, reasoning that Jesus is alive and not on the cross. Of course it is important to understand that Jesus is a living God and without resurrection he would just have been another "Braveheart". BUT... This morning I was reminded of the whole incident when Moses had to make that bronze serpent and, in order to be healed, the Israelites had to lift up their eyes and trust that that action of obedience would heal them. And it did. John 3:14 tells us that Jesus fulfilled that prophetic event by being lifted up for our sin and sicknesses. In order to receive our healing, though, we need to look upon Christ crucified and put our trust in His accomplishment, as did the Israelites with the bronze serpent. Not on our own accomplishments and striving, but solely on what He has done...

We need to SEE that every part of Jesus' body was mutilated, and UNDERSTAND that those very stripes He had received on and in every part of His body, were sufficient to heal us of every known condition or disease.

We so easily recoil from watching "The passion of Christ" (Mel Gibson) labeling it as too violent, yet readily watch all kinds if other violent movies... Isn't it time, perhaps, that we stopped spending our time back-biting the methods and manners of other Christians and denominations and come back to the basics...? Focus un that which is REALLY important?

As i am writing this, I still have diabetes, but in the coming weeks I am going to focus on understanding WHY Christ had to die the way He did and simply put my faith in that accomplishment.

Who wants to join me?
